Valeen Montenegro draws comedy inspiration from 'Bubble Gang' co-stars, viewers

By Aedrianne Acar

Valeen Montenegro has already established herself as one of the best comediennes in GMA-7.

In fact, the mestiza actress's on-screen chemistry with good friend Chariz Solomon in the hit "Balitang Ina" segment made them one of the favorite tandems in the longest-running gag show Bubble Gang.

At the show's media conference held last week, Valeen told GMA News Online where she gets her inspiration for her material in the flagship comedy program.

The Kapuso star stated, “'Yung circle of life, 'yung give and take ng mga tao, doon ako nakakuha ng inspiration and also for the materials on Bubble Gang.”

Valeen continued, “'Tsaka tulad ng sinabi ni Pao, parang people are too serious now. So, we are just here, kasi we all want to feel good 'di ba. Gusto lang namin mag-hawaan ng positivity, hindi dahil sa coronavirus.

“Pero you know just to spread good vibes and feeling ko naman yun talaga 'yung end goal.”

In addition, the "Balitang Ina" comedienne pointed out that everyday people like their loyal viewers can inspire them, too.

“Also from real-life situations, something na very relatable na parang pag pinanood mo, 'Ah,ginagawa ko din 'yun or nafi-feel ko rin 'yun.'”

Valeen continued, “Parang, mas nagkakaroon ng mas mataas na engagement. Also, with the viewers and 'yung audience 'pag nagko-coment sila or sini-send nila 'yung mga napapanood nila and kung paano sila natatawa.

"Parang, 'yun din 'yung sinabi ni Kuya Bitoy nagi-give and take, kami as 'yung gumagawa ng mga sketches and also the audience. Kasi, alam namin that they are really enjoying and siguro from each other. Like I learn a lot from sila Cha [Chariz Solomon], sila Ate Tuesday.”

Watch for the upcoming relaunch of Bubble Gang this coming May 27.
